How to upload a file and use you it in a page?

Upload Process

You can attach files on any netcipia page you create. These files can be documents such as MS-Word or MS-Excel documents, images such as JPG or GIf files, PDF files, or any other file that is stored on your computer.

Note that each file should not exceed 100MB (which is much more than what is allowed on any regular email system), and that you can upload as many files as you want within the limits of the global 2GB max storage for a place.

The simple way to upload a file is to go to the "Attachments" section of the page, and to browse your PC.

Upload-01.jpg

First click on Add an attachment, then (2) select the file to upload, and (3) finish by attaching the file.

You can repeat this process for as many files you want. You will obtain this result:

Upload-03.jpg

As we'll see below, it is also possible to upload files directly from the wysiwyg editor.

Usage Process

There are two ways to use a file that has already been uploaded:

From within the wiki editor

You must use the special wiki syntax:

{image:Upload-03.jpg} or [attach:OfficeFile.doc}

where you add the name of the file to the "attach" tag or only in the case of a picture, to the image tag. In this last case, the picture will be displayed among the text, in the case of the "attach" tag, only a link to the file will be displayed.

From the wysiwyg editor

You must first click on the "insert image" or "insert file" button Upload-04.jpg

And you then follow the procedure displayed in the newly opened windows:

Upload-05.jpg

First select the file by clicking on it. Then (2) an “insert zone” will be displayed, and (3) insert it.

Only with the wysiwyg mode can you upload a file from within the same window:

Upload-06.jpg

Image usage in panels

In order for an image to be displayed in a panel, the image file must be uploaded into each page.

You can use a file that exists in another page (or Space.Page) using the sintax

<link text>

For example if I want to use the file "myfile.pdf" existing in the Space.Page "Private.Files"

My File

Comments are not editable. The only thing possible is to delete the comment and to recreate it.

{code} Upload-03.jpg or [attach:OfficeFile.doc} {/code} Obvious here is mistype. Must be { before attach.

Oops, {code} don't work. And I can't delete comment to recreate it.

Thanks, Olleg, your post helped me a lot. You are right. Btw, it was the / in your code end-tag.

I see

{image:xxx.jpg} or {attach:xxx.doc}
works fine in the comment, but not on the page. I am using a typospace on page:

{image:xxx.jpg} or { attach:xxx.doc}
else: snapping to square if inserted in the codetags.

Do we call this a minor bug? It is puzzeling in a tutorial page.

Solved: To get the correct text, that is:

{image:xxx.jpg} or {attach:xxx.doc}

Type this in wiki mode (same on page and comment):

\{image:xxx.jpg} or \{attach:xxx.doc}
