How to navigate your place

You have different ways to navigate your place.

The first way is to click on the links created in your home page (WebHome). Of course, you will have to create these links yourself.

But there are also some shortcuts that enable you to access different pages or sections of the place directly.

The "Spaces" panel

As you may have read on the "What are a page, a space and a place" page, your place is divided into several spaces. You can go directly to the home page of a space by clicking on the name of the space located in the "Space" panel:

The "Recently created" panel

This panel lists the last 10 pages created in the place. This is an easy way to load these pages and read or edit their content (very useful for content creators).

The "Recently visited" panel

This panel provides a way to quickly switch between the pages you have recently viewed in the place. It may be easier than to use the "previous" / "next" buttons of your browser. The last 10 pages loaded are listed.

The "Backlinks" panel

A backlink is a link that points to your page. When you are in a page, this panel provides the list of all the other pages that are linked to this page. This feature is extremely useful to reorganize your links or to check if you have forgotten to link your page from another page.

The "Index" page

Navigate-05.jpg

This last feature provides a global view of all the pages created within a space. If your space contains 200 pages, they will all be listed in the table below, and will be accessible by clicking on the page name.

I would really like the space index to be a default box on the page.

Do you plan on adding a panel containing the space index ?

Try to add this panel: xwiki:Panels.SpaceIndex , it's a panel containing space index. You can also try this one: xwiki:Panels.SiteMap , it's a new panel that will be officially announced today or tomorrow. Be careful when copying the panels, their name are case-sensitive.

Hopefully it will meet your expectations :)

Is there a chance of displaying a TOC for a whole space (including hierarchical structure)? Or is there a hierarchical structure at all?

Hi,

You can use the sitemap panel for this.

Using the Site map-panel - is there a way of organising the pages under each space in an order of my own choise? Seems to be alphabetically by default.

Can the sitemap display more than two levels?
