Page Name

A page name is like a file name on a disk. No two pages in the same space can have the same page name. The page name is part of the URL address of the page. One restriction with the page name is that it must not end with a question mark (due to a problem in xwiki).

When you want to link to a page with the name "Great Ideas", put the page name in square brackets:

  [Tutorial.Great Ideas]
Note that this only works for pages that are in the same space. To reference a page outside of the space, you must include the space name. For example, to reference the above "Great Ideas" main wiki page from the blog:
  [main.Great Ideas]

Page Title

The page title is an optional name/description which is displayed in many places (e.g. the breadcrumb navigation aid). If the page title is not entered, the page name is used as its title. There are no known restrictions on the makeup of a page title.

Here's an example of the breadcrumb using a title instead of a page name:

NameTitle-04.jpg

Special "WebHome" page name

A special page name, “WebHome” is given to the home pages of each space. It is a default that is not always displayed in the URL.

If you want to link to the home page of a space, use:

  [Tutorial.WebHome]
if it is in the same space. As mentioned above, to link between spaces, you need to include the space name also. For example, from the blog you can link to the main wiki home page with:
  [Main.WebHome]

If you only used "[Tutorial.Main]" it would look for a page named "Main".

Hello, if you mean rename for example a page Main.MyPage to Main.NewPage, there is no tool for doing this automatically. But you can create the new Main.NewPage, and paste in it the content of Main.MyPage, and then delete the old one.

I know this process is a bit boring, and we are working on a feature to rename automatically a page.

Is there a way to have my site name not be capitalized? Mine is coming out "Alt-spirit", when I'd prefer "alt-spirit".

If you talk of the top title of your place the reason is no. but you can upload a logo to replace it (there is a tutorial for this). And we are going to implement very the soon the possibility to enter a "pretty name" to dispaly as site title.

If you talk of the site name in the title bar of your internet browser (that is the name of your IE or FF window), the answer is yes, via the preferences, in the presentation section. Look at the "browser bar title " property and at the end just keep the context.database (and the dollar before), and delete what is coming after.

I can't give a page a name with an accent. This is pretty annoying for a French wiki.

@Michael: You can now use the property "Pretty Name" in the preferences (skin section) to set another title to your place.
