If you don't have this panel just use the panel "Search" typing "photos".

And open the page "WebHome In Photos"

When your are on the "WebHome in Photos" page you have the possibility to create a new photo album, don't forget to enter a short name, this name is not the title of the album it will just help for the creation of the adress of your photo album.

So enter the name

and click on

create.PNG

How can I write a descriptive text to each of my photos?

… asked Johannes 3 months ago. I have the impression, the Photo Space WebHome page is ment to be a simple image collection organizer, and this "albums" we can create are nothing but sequences of pictures, with one description made on the respective "album" page and one comment, to be written in the comment section of that "album" to shine up on the Photos/Webhome. Know what? It's great! Just the designation is a little misleading. Conclusion: To have a descriptive text for each photo, it has to be the only photo of the sequence. True or not? And my compliment to the programmer!

how to upload photos to an album:

Prerequisite: create an album

Go to your Photo Space WebHome page (for example by clicking the "Photo" link in the "Spaces"-Panel)

See the second section of that page "Create a new Album". Enter a short name (for the page URL) and click the button "Create this Album".

The Photo Space application opens a new page in WYSIWYG editor mode. See the form "enter title here" in the editor. Here you should assign a headline to your single picture or your sequence, because this will be the link to the Album on the Photo-Webhome page in the second column of the table.

You can type a description of your image or sequence right away, exactly as you would do on a standard wiki page. This text will be displayed in the third column of the Photos-WebHome table. You can change title and description any time.

Upload photos:

We are still on this new album page in edit mode.

First option: Click the editor icon with the tree image. See the "Insert image"-dialog window popping up. Second section: "Upload Image". "Choose file" Button: browse your PC for JPEGs, GIFs or PNGs. Choose and click the "Attach this file"-button. Do not insert the picture(s) on the page, just attach!

Second option (recommended): Save and close. You should see a page in view mode now with a title and 4 links: the first one "Add Photos" opens the hidden attachment section. See Upload "Upload Process". There is nothing to do but upload (or delete), the Album application handles the attachments.

To get rid of a whole album, delete the page with the toolbox - action. Make sure you do not delete the Photo-WebHome page ;).

Dear Dan, thanks so much for your advise on uploading of photos - all seemed to work fine http://nslaiwg.netcipia.net/xwiki/bin/view/Photos/TheTeam?diapo=1 But it seems that the photo album function does not allow you to add individual captions to the images you add to the photo-album or to place these in relationship to each individual photo. Instead anything you write about your individual photos - in the album edit page - seems to become part of the table summary of the album. Have I made the right assumptions here? Are these things you have considered about the functionality of the Netcipia albums? I can see one of your examples is of the creation of a sequence but this seems to be made up of 4 individual photo albums each with one photo in it. All the best Lucia

Hello Lucia, thanks for sharing. I see where you would like to get with your photospace, and the "wall of the dead end". Would something comparable to a photoblog like this help you out? It is a page outside the Photospace.Do not hesitate to click edit and copy wikicode you would like to use, comments welcome.

Note there are no images attached to my example page, they are stored in the photospace-album and called with the "document=" parameter of the image-macro:

{image:NameofImage|document=Photos.NameofAlbum}

So we end up with photospace-albums that serve as central image repository, and the albums we creat on our own. Of course you could attach the images to the example page as well, but photospace and "document" parameter call combined makes a lot of sense to me.

Best, dan.
