New features table

To implement

Unique CodeFeature descriptionVoteNetcipia status
Event CalendarIt would be nice if netcipia had the Event Calendar xwiki application.++++
Ajax EditProvide an Ajax wysiwyg editor instead of the current one++we are improving our regular wysiwy editor. We'll work on a full Ajox interface in the near future
Pages historyInclude pages history on each space welcome page.++could you explain more the objective of this feature ?
Rename pagesIt would be nice if it were possible to rename pages (not just the title)+++will be available with the sitemap panel feature
Time ZonePlease allow users to select their time zone+++Not yet started, but it will be done
Email notificationOption to automatically send emails if there are changes to a page++++it will be done through a future XWiki upgrade
NewSkinsTo have access to a catalog of skins to choose the best skin for its place++++in progress
Math formulasTo render math formulas coded in the LaTex syntax+++Netcipia is not focused on this special topic. If XWiki engine integrates LaTex syntax in the future, we'll be able to provide it, otherwise it will not be possible
Selective CreateAbility to give members selective create ability, such as Blog New Topic only++++
Show Who's VisitingA panel which shows who is currently visiting the wiki+++We already have a panel with the members list. It could be interesting to add the awareness indicator.
Numbered headingsAllow headings to be numbered, much easier to navigate and refer to in long document+
Numbering is available within the toc (table of content) feature. You can generate an automatic toc within the Wysiwyg editor (use buton "macro" within the toolbar)
Skins for low-speed internet usersSome pages take too long to load, particularly if using dial-up which some of my colleagues do. A low-bandwidth skin option would be great.+

Export to WordStill the most popular desk-top publishing tool so makes sense to be able to finish-off collaborative Netcipia documents in MS Word afterwards.+
A page export to RTF format will be available
Export to PDFCurrent pdf printing not too pretty. Would be better to produce something like some of the pdf outputs from Wikipedia Wikibooks.+
We must improve it, you are right. We'll work on it.

Implemented :)

Unique CodeFeature descriptionVoteNetcipia status
Automatic IndexingFunctionallity for automatic indexing of an xwiki-side.++Already existing: see the toc macro in WYSIWYG mode
TagAdd Tags and cloud tags in Netcipia+++DONE, you can now tag pages, follow tags with RSS, display a tag cloud and navigate through tags
TextFormatTo be able to format text with colors, font and size choices+++DONE, check WYSIWYG editor
Reset PWD of membersA functionallity of reseting the forgotten password of members would be fine.++++DONE, link to regenerate pasword is in the login page under login fields
Export in XMLAbility to export text in XML code+++DONE, see export feature within preferences. The file generated is a XAR file, aka a zip file of XML files.

I think it would be helpful to have a calendar tool to help keep track of collaborative efforts on a project (eg. tracking deadlines, noting meetings, etc.)

First… I think this is an awesome utility and I'm glad to be using it. I do have two strong suggestions I'd like to make:

1) Create a place manager tool - I want to be able organize the pages inside each place on my space easily. And I want the others who are going to use this page to be able to quickly understand the way I have things organized. How about a view that acts as a map of my place - where every space is listed with all of its pages below it and I can add, delete, move or view each one.

2) When creating a new page - make us select where it is going to be created. It is not clear where a page is going to live upon creating it in side bar. You could also provide a "create new page" option when editing a space. Yes?

Thanks! Keep it up. Andrew! ConsumerConscience

Andrew,

1) We are currenly finishing an ajax sitemap panel that allows owner of a place to easily manage the pages of his/her place. And all the others members will be able to navigate through it and follow your organization. This feature will be released very soon.

2) You are right, the space of creation is not clear if you don't already know that the page will be created in the space you are currently in. we must improve that. I don't understand, your second request can you make it clearer? What do you mean by editing a space?

Thanks for your comment that make us go ahead :)

Would be good to have a 'clear formatting' option in the WYSIWYG editor to get rid of weird formatting when copying from another document or web page

Current skins are not usable with "no images" browser option. Also text-based bowsers like links even can't log in. It's a pity, because everything else is great.

Can I edit skin of my place by myself?

Thank you for your feedback about "no image" option. We'll check this in the future for next releases. unfortunatele Skins are not open to user modification, because the skin architecture is still to sensitive and not yet ready for this. But if you are able to propose a webdesign of a skin which could be of professional quality and useful for everybody, we'll be able to implement it and add it to our catalog of skins. Don't hesitate.

Three suggestions:
  1. Be able to re-title the user panels to something other than "Information Area, etc...."
2. Be able to add more user panels. 3. Be able to have more than one blog. Maybe one per space?

Keep up the great work!

  1. Administrator to be able to edit the first name and last name for the user list. There is no link between the automatically generated user-ids and email address.
Good job!

You should go further with tagging, creating advanced search options like "+tag1 +tag2 -tag3" (like the "label:xxx" in gmail search. That's a very powerful option. Another enhancement : create a hierarchical approach of the space : would be wonderful to create an arborescence, with something like :
  • Main.Page1 (including a new page Section1)
  • Main.Page1.Section1.
  • and so on : Main.Page1.Section1.Part1...
Somewhat complicated, but very useful too. It could also be easier to create a link to a document attached in the page. Last thing : a global option on the space to jump only between editable pages. I modify quite every page I see, so I don't need the "pretty view" but only the editable view. That would be my first demand. (A different product, but very useful.) Maybe it would be great for some users that the administrator jumps between pages in edit mode whereas other users jump between pages in "pretty" (non editable) pages.

Thanks for this service !

It would be really cool if you could create an interface tool or mini application for xwiki that would allow you to edit the skin through the user interface rather than editing or building a completely new skin. This new interface app could allow you to change features much as you do already with the header/icon by uploading a new background, specifiying a new color of the panel backgrounds, font types, etc…

It would be great, if it was possible to autolink between pages. fx. if I have a page named England, everytime england is metioned in every other page, it will autolink to this page… Like in wikipedia
