The Story

One of my cousins plays guitar, and he started playing with some of his friends some time ago. They created their music group and already performed for their school. As I'm starting to get experienced with how to use this wiki, I told him I could help him starting his group's website on Netcipia.

Why Here ?

Why Netcipia rather than MySpace or TypePad ? First because it's such a flexible tool, it's easy to embd stuff coming from other websites (such as DailyMotion videos...), to add documets to your page and display them in the page (I'm using this to play mp3 in the page without using any external player)… The photo album feature is useful too. So on the whole, he could really do what he anted with his website.

Another Reason

The next reason has more to do with the wiki aspect : it's easy to create new pages, links between those pages and every member of the group can contribute his own little piece. A new picture, a story he thought of themember can add it, wherever he is. No webmaster that adds a new step to the website enrichment process : you said collaborative blog ?

Blog Feature

Oh yes, for there is the blog feature too. There is often material you'd like to talk about but cannot put directly in a blog post (such as a video). Now it's easy to blog about something and put a link to the video page on your own website. And comments can be allowed on every page ;)

Conclusion

The project is only beginning, and I hope my cousin's friends will take part actively, but he was really seduced by the way he coulmd interact with the platform and talk about his group. Netcipia's potential is much greater than on a typical blog and he enjoys this.

Clearly, our website is not yet content-rich and does not fully exploit Netcipia's potential, but if his group takes it seriously I'm sure the result that could be achieved would be amazing. Let's see what will happen next…
